The Harpoons

There are some great 60's inspired bands coming out of Melbourne at the moment. This isn't to say that Melbourne is a backwards city, it's far from it (execpt of course when it comes to public transpot).
Like fellow Melbounians Little Red, The Harpoon play 60's inspired pop like they were there when it happened. The key difference between the two bands however is the harmonies. While Little Red make good use of harmonies it often feels like overkill. While The Harpoons also make use of harmonies, it is much more understated and makes the music sound like something you might find on a record from your Grandma's house, which is a very good thing.

They have some shows coming which can be found on their myspace as well as a demo that you can buy if you like what you hear.
